3 Reasons to start a foam roller practice!
At its heart, Pilates is about reconnecting with our bodies and listening to what they need on any given day. Sometimes that might mean doing a hardcore workout; other times, it might mean taking things a little slower and focusing on breath work or relaxation.
An important aspect of Pilates is mindfulness. It's the awareness that we are, in fact, human beings breathing and existing on this earth alongside all these other living things - not just machines out to crunch up our miles for personal glory or competition.
There's something so grounding about staying true to yourself and your own needs. We may feel like we need to be superheroes who can do it all at once, but one of our favourite parts of wellness is taking the time to prioritize what makes us tick—and body rolling with a foam roller isn't a bad place to start.
Here are three reasons why you should add the jounrey of foam rolling into your daily practice.
1. You'll get tighter.
Tight muscles lead to poor posture, which can cause back pain and affect other areas of our bodies too. Foam rolling is an awesome way to lengthen tight muscles without having to engage in a long stretch session (which isn't always feasible). Even after just one or two sessions, you will notice immediate changes in how your body feels...and looks!
2. It's good for your fascia.
Fascia has become quite popularized in wellness communities over the past several years—and with good reason! Fascia surrounds our individual muscle fibers, acting as both a protective layer
and a support system. When it becomes tight, restricted, or damaged, our whole body suffers. Rolling on a foam roller helps to release tension in the fascia, improving overall movement and relieving pain.
3. You're worth it!
Self-care is not selfish. It's necessary. We cannot pour from an empty cup, and we cannot give our best selves to others if we do not first take care of ourselves. In order to be our best possible selves, we need to invest time in activities that make us happy, peaceful, and healthy—and for many of us, that means foam rolling!
So go ahead and add the jounrey of foam into your daily practice! Not only will you show up to life with more energy, but you will feel confident knowing that you are taking care of your body for the betterment of yourself and others.

3. It helps us to relax and destress
The benefits of foam rolling aren't just physical; they're mental too! Whether you're using a traditional roller or one that provides targeted pressure (like the RumbleRoller), self-massage can reduce tension in your muscles by triggering pressure points that release chemicals like dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins—all of which work together to make us happier.
