Pilates In Person vs Online: Which is Best for You?

So, the question is, can you get the same results from online Pilates classes as you would from an in-person class?

I will share my perspective as an instructor who has taught both in-person and online for over 17 years. I have found that the most important factor is not where you do your Pilates but rather how frequently you commit to practicing.

First, I've realized that the clients who attend in-person classes generally aren't interested in online but vice versa. Those who love the online learning experience have zero desire to join a group studio!

Whether we can obtain results in-person or online no longer has to be answered because, in the last three years, we have shown that it is possible to get results.

We now have clients who want to be able to do their Pilates whenever, wherever, and on the go!

The biggest difference I've noticed between online and in-person is that my clients have developed more autonomy and consistency in their practice faster than they did during a personal session (just my experience) This is why I think that doing Pilates matwork online offers better results than in person.

I've had clients for years who would come to the studio 2-3 times per week and then take a break for a month or two, then come back for a few weeks and stop again. Online, my clients have been taking an average of 3 classes per week.

It's been said that it might be easier to stay consistent when you attend exercise classes in person. I disagree and think that people continue attending these classes because of the instructor and quality content, not just for convenience's sake.

Ultimately, if you're looking for progress, then be dedicated to the process- virtually or in person.

The question is: WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU CAN BE THE MOST CONSISTENT IN YOUR PRACTICE?

If you know that you can be consistent with your practice 3-5 times per week online, that is where you should be!

The most important part of any movement system is showing up for yourself day in and day out. And if online works for you, that is where you should be!
